VanGoghnut: Still Life With Cabbages and Onions (Inspired by Vincent Van Gogh, 1887) Space Donut
While perusing the Van Gogh Museum website recently, I learned that Vincent had a fascination with Japanese art and actually accumulated his own collection; the prints had a major influence on his style and composition which is evident once one is aware that he studied Yukio-e woodblock prints in particular.
This still life is particularly reminiscent of those woodblock prints and I really loved it when I came across it in the book I might have ordered from the museum because I have zero self-control where Van Gogh is concerned. While he achieved his effects with paint, I used sparkly gel pen. I like to think he would have approved.
