Vangoghnut: Orchard In Blossom (Inspired by Vincent van Gogh, 1889) Space Donut
Vincent spent most of 1889 in Arles, where he made 200 paintings. He was in Paris prior and would go to Saint-Rémy and the asylum after, and it’s possible, especially when one considers the letters he wrote from Arles, that he experienced both depression and mania that led to his decision while in the town in Provence (there appears to be a family history of bipolar disorder as well as a personal history of mental illness and syphilis which a huge percentage of Europe had and which, if untreated, could have a profound effect on Van Gogh’s brain. It did on his brother Theo’s before Theo’s death from syphilis). Despite all of that, many of Van Gogh’s paintings from this period are delicately lovely, including his many paintings of the fields and orchards of the area around Arles. Stylistically, many of these paintings were influenced by Van Gogh’s interest in Japanese prints.
