Fridice Khreamlo: The Two Fridas (Inspired by Frida Kahlo, 1939) Space Donut
This painting is all about dichotomy. It is Frida’s representation of her dual life and my representation of a whimsical shape portraying a serious theme. Frida Kahlo is one of my personal touchstones/icons because she was one of the first painters to portray her own, visceral, ugly pain by painting her own body experiencing that same pain so blatantly and unapologetically. I hope I have the courage to do the same someday.
